DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - No. 3 Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) advanced to the Final Four in quarterfinal action on Saturday after a 1-0 win over No. 11 Notre Dame C ollege (Ohio) at the 47th Annual NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship hosted by Embry-Riddle University.
SNU held a 7-1 shot advantage the first half, but were unable to convert rendering the first half scoreless.
The game's lone goal came at the 47:54 minute mark, when Daniel Agina of the Crimson Storm served up a ball from 40 yards out to teammate Jeffery Darkwah who netted his twelfth goal of the season to give Southern Nazarene a 1-0 advantage.
Despite allowing one goal, Notre Dame goalkeeper Chris Logan registered six saves while his counter part David Eguren tallied two in the SNU victory.
Notre Dame College heads back to Ohio 16-4-2 having achieved their athletic programs first NAIA National Tournament Appearance. The team also achieved their institutions first national level win, as they defeated No. 6-seeded Simon Fraser (B.C.) 2-1 in overtime.
The Crimson Storm now gear up to play the winner of Lindenwood and Lindsey Willson on Monday at 8 p.m. in the Final Fourof the NAIA Men's Soccer National Tournament.
