OLATHE, Kan. - Oklahoma City University win its fifth national title in six years after a 72-hole score of 1154 (+2) at the 2006 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships.   Joe Prince from Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.) earned medalist honors with his four-under total of 284.  The 55th annual event is hosted by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce and is held at Prairie Highlands Golf Course.

The Stars led wire-to-wire in the tournament and finished with a sixteen-stroke victory over defending national champion Johnson & Wales University (Fla.).  Johnson & Wales shot a final round 287 (-1) to edge out Oklahoma Christian University and claim second place alone.  Oklahoma Christian finished in third place at 1171, while Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) took fourth place with an 1184 total.  Point Loma Nazarene and Wayland Baptist University (Texas) finished in fifth and sixth places, respectively.

The University of Victoria's (B.C.) Todd Halpen finished one shot behind Prince with a four-day total of 285 (-3).  He trailed by three strokes coming into the final round and took the lead halfway through the day, but Prince finished his back nine at even par for the individual title.

Oklahoma City was led by Colin Nel, who finished at one-under par (287) for third place.  Drew Chuipek of Saint Ambrose (Iowa), J.J.Brumley of Wayland Baptist (Texas) and Rhein Gibson of Oklahoma Christian all finished in a tie for fourth place at even-par (288).   The top 15 finishers all earn all-tournament team honors.

This is the fifth title for Oklahoma City, who also won the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 events.  Huntingdon College (Ala.) and Texas Wesleyan each hold the record for most team titles with six.  Complete team and individual results can be found on www.naia.org.
