Champions of Character at Championships
The NAIA's 23 national championships offer great opportunities to integrate Champions of Character programs into our communities.
How to integrate character training at championship events
Hosting an NAIA Championship requires more than staging a high-caliber sports event. Host communities are trained on incorporating elements of the Champions of Character program into the event. This can range from rules of conduct expected by participants, coaches and spectators to providing activities associated with the championship that inform and educate everyone involved about Champions of Character.
Young student-athletes from the community have opportunities to attend the competition along with a special event that teaches them the core values of the Champions of Character program. The hope is that the student-athletes and their parents who attend these events will carry the core values back to their youth teams, schools and businesses.
NAIA Championships have proven to be a great venue for sharing the Champions of Character program with our host community. Championships provide the perfect setting for creating a dialogue on the Champions of Character core values while enjoying great sports competition.
